Kevin Carr
singer and storyteller, player of fiddle, bagpipes, accordion, banjo

This is KevinKevin Carr is a fiddler, piper and storyteller in the old tradition. He invites audiences into a world slightly apart from our everyday lives -  a world of timeless folk melodies, of songs and tales culled from the collective imagination and polished over the years till they reflect the deeper truths and delights of life. His repertoire reflects a love of the vast stream of Irish, Scottish and American folklore and music, and he's journeyed some up the tributaries of Quebecois, Galician and French dance
music as well.

Kevin's solo performances include pure storytelling for all ages,
American folktales accompanied by fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo, Irish tales with fiddle and Irish Uilleann bagpipes, Scots tales with fiddle and highland and lowland pipes, and he does a performance piece on the history and lore of the bagpipes of the world, called " The Neverending Song and the Wind of the World".
In addition to his solo work, Kevin is in demand as a dance fiddler
for Contra, old time, and Scottish and English country dancing. He performs at dances and festivals around the country, alone, with his wife Barbara Mendelsohn, and with the cult classic eclectic contradance band, the Hillbillies from Mars. Kevin is also a part of tradtional Quebecois fiddle ensemble, Les Tetes de Violon, and for the last five years has played Irish pipes and fiddle in the popular Celtic/Grateful Dead jam band, Wake the Dead.

Kevin has guested on dozens of recordings by artists as diverse as Patrick Ball, Laurie Lewis, Robin Flower and Libby McClaren, Carol McComb, and Tony Furtado, and has recorded "Airs Tordus" as a member of  Les Tetes de Violon, the eponymous "Hillbillies from Mars" , and "Wake the Dead" and "Buckdancer's Choice" with Wake the Dead. He has a solo storytelling CD out called "The Big Music".

Kevin lives on a very small farm in Ashland, Oregon, but is on the
road a lot, both with his music and with his work as a licensed family therapist.
