The Christmas Revels 2006

A Theatrical Celebration of the Winter Solstice

Come with us this December on a wintry journey to the densely forested and mountainous terrain of late 18th and early 19th  century French Canada. Become part of life in the village of Trois Rivieres as our narrator takes us back to a time of hardship and dangers but also of abundant feasting, celebration and great joy.

Follow the exciting and often dangerous journey of the Voyageurs, canoeing through the whitewater wilderness in search of beaver pelts and furs; reting by camp fires and dreaming of their village and the families that they have been away from for so long.  And who is the menacing stranger who casts no shadow but who offers them a chance to return home. Home, where there will be feasting, dancing, storytelling, and reveling at the Temps des Fetes.

We are thrilled to announce that internationally acclaimed Pierre Chartrand of Montreal's Danse Cadence will be our featured guest artist this year.  His amazing Quebecois dancing and vivacious musicianship will leave you tapping your feet and singing along with the chorus in true Revels fashion.

Also joining the Revels family this year will be David Cahn and his squeezebox, perenial favorite Shira Kammen and Wendell Brooks, and a chorus of over 60 local adults and children.
